The HEA Factsheet on Postgraduate Research in Ireland examines trends in postgrad research in Ireland over the last five years.
Among the key points –
Numbers pursuing postgraduate research programmes have remained relatively consistent over the last five years at between 9,506 and 9,802 students.
UCD has the highest number of researchers at 1,742, followed by TCD at 1,591. UCC is third at 1,321 and then NUIG at 1,246.
Research enrolments are split 50/50 male/female.
Two thirds of PhD graduates find employment in Ireland.
