HEA Innovation and Transformation fund to help Higher Education institutions throughout Ireland
Following the announcement from the Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh T.D. and Minister for Higher Education Mary Mitchell O’Connor T.D. in February 2019, the HEA is pleased to confirm the list of projects funded under the Innovation and Transformation fund 2018.
The fund was launched in 2018 as a recommendation of the Review of the recurrent funding allocation model for higher education. Out of the applications received and assessed by an independent panel, 21 successful proposals include partnerships amongst the seven universities, the three IOT’s which now compose the TU Dublin, ten institutes of technology, two specialist colleges, one Further Education College and five other state and non-state bodies. Within the programme are:
• collaborations between higher education institutions and organisations such as An Cosán, Family Carers Ireland and the Disability Federation of Ireland to learn and adopt better ways of ensuring education is open to as many people as possible.
• projects which focus on developing digital systems to enable more flexible learning, including through online options and simulation training.
• projects that are focusing on student mental health, supporting entrepreneurs and start-ups, student retention, leadership and preparing students for the working world.
