Apprenticeships
Apprenticeship is an employment opportunity programme with structured education and training. It formally combines and alternates learning in the workplace with learning in an education or training centre.
Craft Transfer Plan
The Craft Transfer Plan sets out the intention to transfer responsibility for curriculum development, assessment and awarding for craft apprenticeships to education providers.
New Consortia Led Apprenticeship Process Review
In March 2026, the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, the Higher Education Authority and SOLAS commenced a review of the processes to develop and approve new Consortia Led Apprenticeships (CLAs).
Access to Apprenticeship (ATA)
The Access to Apprenticeship programme (ATA) is aimed at young people (16–24 years of age) from under-represented groups, to support their transition into a national apprenticeship.
Action Plan for Apprenticeship 2026–2030 (in development)
The new proposed Action Plan will aim on updating current apprenticeship policy to reflect present and future challenges within Ireland’s apprenticeship landscape.
