The Access to Apprenticeship programme (ATA) is aimed at young people (16–24 years of age) from under-represented groups, to support their transition into a national apprenticeship.
The 12 or 15-week full-time programme has been delivered since 2020 in two HEIs: Technological University Dublin and Technological University of the Shannon. Expansion to other HEIs and/or other campuses is being considered.
The ATA programme provides a structured, practice-based access route into apprenticeship and employment pathways. It gives the participants the opportunity to sample a range of apprenticeships in different industries, develop their employability skills, enhance their CV, practice interview skills, undertake work experience, visit leading industry companies and obtain Safe Pass, Working at Heights and Manual Handling certifications.
