In September 2022, following a period of consultation with stakeholders, the Higher Education Authority  launched the Race Equality Implementation Plan. A national action under the Implementation Plan related to recruitment, promotion and progression practices in Irish higher education institutions.

In response to this action, a Good Practice Resource on Race Equality in Recruitment, Promotion and Advancement was developed during 2026 through consultation with key stakeholders across the higher education sector. It is intended that higher education institutions can adapt the Good Practice Resource to their own governance structures and institutional contexts.
