Limerick Framework for Action: Advancing the Global Health Promoting Campuses Agenda

Created in 2025, The Limerick Framework for Action: Advancing the Global Health Promoting Campuses Agenda provides a roadmap for the collective implementation of health promotion efforts across the whole higher education system. The Framework is built on the three interconnected and interdependent pillars of Planet, Places, and People.

Vision

By embedding health, well-being, and sustainability across all aspects of higher education, HPCs empower students and employees to reach their full potential, strengthen surrounding communities, and support the achievement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals*, fostering a healthy planet, healthy places, and healthy people

Purpose

The Limerick Framework for Action provides a roadmap for the collective implementation of health promotion efforts across the whole higher education system. Rooted in a settings-based approach to health promotion, it supports HPCs and their communities to implement practical strategies, and empower active participation and partnerships, and recognise and document progress.
