Open Course: Supporting a Whole Campus Approach to a Healthy Campus



The National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education are delighted to announce that the fully online Open Course Supporting a Whole Campus Approach to a Healthy Campus will run from September 2024.

This free 6 week course is available to all staff currently working in tertiary education in the Republic of Ireland, subject to availability of places. Additional facilitator training is included so that you can become a facilitator of this course and run it in your own institution.  A further commitment of three additional sessions will be required for the facilitator add-on.

Learning Outcomes

  • Know why being a “health-promoting campus” matters
  • Understand the Okanagan Charter
  • Articulate how the campus physical and social environment plays a role in becoming a health-promoting campus?
  • Advocate for a collective impact framework, campus master plans, and policies for creating well-being in settings, communities, and individuals.

Who is this course designed for?

The Open Course can support staff and students in your institution working on the implementation of the Healthy Campus Charter and Framework, including

  • new or existing members of your Healthy Campus Steering or specific working groups
  • staff and students interested in health and wellbeing. 
  • academics, student ambassadors, and key stakeholders in Irish higher education
