The National Technological University TransfOrmation for Recovery and Resilience (N-TUTORR) is a €40m collaborative project that seeks to transform teaching and learning in the technological sector.

N -TUTORR is a national project designed to transform learning, teaching, and assessment by focussing on transforming the student experience. €40m in funding under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) has been invested in the project, which involves all seven institutions in the technological sector. The project commenced in April 2022 and will conclude in December 2024.

Context

The National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) was developed by the Government to enable Ireland to access funding under the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The Recovery and Resilience Facility is the largest component of NextGenerationEU, which is the European Union’s response to the global pandemic. The aim of the RRF is to help to repair the immediate economic and social damage brought about by the pandemic and to prepare for a post-COVID Europe that is greener, includes improved digitisation, and is more resilient and fit to face the future. The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) was successful in securing €225m under this funding facility. This includes a €40 million investment in the technological sector through the N-TUTORR project.

Investment in the technological sector under the NRRP N-TUTORR project complements funding to support landscape reform through the Technological University Transformation Fund (TUTF), Technological Sector Advance Fund (TSAF), and TU Research and Innovation Supporting Enterprise Scheme (TU RISE). These separate funding schemes with distinct objectives will increase the scale, critical mass, and quality of institutions ensuring that they are both regionally impactful and competitive internationally.
