As a trusted statistics agency with a statutory function, the HEA is committed to the highest standards of conduct.  As a producer of Official Statistics, we also observe the Irish Statistical System Code of Practice (ISSCoP).

The HEA has a statutory responsibility for the effective governance and regulation of the Irish higher education system.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is in force since the 25th May 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive. GDRP significantly increases the obligations and responsibilities for organisations in how they collect, use and protect personal data. At the centre of the new law is the requirement for organisations and businesses to be fully transparent about how they are using and safeguarding personal data, and to be able to demonstrate accountability for their data processing activities.
