Data Retention Policy
The HEA student records are held indefinitely since they are used to monitor participation and employment in higher education over time.
Regarding the Graduate Outcomes Survey, the HEA advised HEIs that they should retain graduate records for 12 months after submission to the HEA. After this point, and unless the HEA has specifically requested otherwise, the data should be destroyed. This is with the exception of contact details of the graduates which may be used for longitudinal follow up in the future. However, the contact details of graduates are not shared with the HEA.
