‘Making an Impact’ Finalists Announced

The five finalists who will compete to win two prizes of €2,500 each at The Helix, DCU on 15th November have been announced.

This is the ninth year of the research communication competition which is a partnership between the Higher Education Authority and the Irish Independent. The standard of entries was very high and the range of subjects varied.

The finalists are –

Edwin Alblas (UCD) – ‘Effective Nature Laws’

Joanne Duffy (NUIG) – ‘Barnacles, Bacteria and Beyond’

Hala Jabar (UL) – ‘Music and Migrants’

Eoin Murphy (NUIG) – ‘Catching a Runaway Train: The Battle to Defeat Huntingtons’ Disease’

Greg Tierney (TCD) – ‘Lowering the Tackle Height Law in Rugby’
